The Lake Maggiore Marathon, established in 2011, is an annual racing event which offers participants a unique opportunity to run along the picturesque shores of Italy’s second-largest lake, Lago Maggiore. Organized by Sport PRO-MOTION ASD, the event has gained recognition for its scenic routes and well-structured races.
Held in November, the event includes four primary race categories: Marathon, 33 km Race, Half Marathon, and a 10 km Race. The courses are predominantly flat, with some undulating sections, making them suitable for runners aiming for personal bests. The marathon route takes participants through the group of Borromean Islands, Stresa as well as Villa Taranto Botanical Gardens providing stunning views
The Lake Maggiore Marathon is organized under the regulations of FIDAL (Italian Athletics Federation), IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations), EAA (European Athletic Association) and AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races). Additionally, since 2020, the event has held the ISO 20121 certification for “Sustainable Events,” reflecting its commitment to environmental responsibility

*NOTE: Runcard FIDAL (Italian Athletic Federation) is a compulsory card to compete at agonistic races in Italy for athletes not members of foreign Sport Clubs and it is comprehensive of insurance. Runcard FIDAL subscription (www.runcard.com) is valid for one year at any Italian road running competition and must be valid on raceday; respecting Runcard FIDAL rules it is full responsibility of the athlete.

- Half Marathon: Top 3 Men/ women overall
- 10K: Top 3 Men/ women overall
- FIDAL categories (Marathon/ 33K/ Half Marathon/ 10K): First / Top runner Man/ woman
- In addition to above:
- For Marathon & Half Marathon, Top 3 (male/female) will be awarded with shopping coupons or sport products. These are not cumulative with prizes of General Ranking.
- For 33K & 10L, First/ Top male/female runner will be awarded with shopping coupons or sport products. These are not cumulative with prizes of General Ranking

Important Points
- Deferrals / Change in Distance: Deferrals to next year and change in distance is allowed if applied/ communicated to the organizers within timelines. Nominal fees might be applicable for processing of request
- Bib collection: In case runner is unable to collect the bib in person, they can delegate a third person to collect the bib on their behalf. The representative must carry a (a) Confirmation Letter printed/signed in original by the delegating member (b) Power of Attorney (attached to the confirmation letter) and (3) Copy of the delegate member’s identity document
- Aid stations will be placed throughout the course
- Baggage check in available.
- Pacers: Pacers would be available
- Changing rooms/ Showers: Changing rooms (unsupervised) are available at start & finish areas while showers are available at finish area.
- Time limits: There is an upper limit applicable for the Marathon (5hrs 30min), 33Km (4hrs 15min), Half Marathon (2hrs 45min) and 10K (1hr 30min)
