Inaugurated in 1972, the Chevron Houston Marathon is an annual marathon held in Houston, Texas, United States. With thousands of participants as well as spectators, it is one of the largest single day sporting event in the city. The event offers a Marathon, a Half marathon and a 5 km race.
The USATF certified course is fast and flat course and takes runners past scenic Houston areas and communities. The race is popular with runners seeking to qualify for the Boston Marathon
The 2021 in-person edition of the race was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, with all participants being provided the option of running the race virtually (and also receiving a discount for the 2022 edition), OR transferring their entry to 2022 or 2023.

2. Legacy runners who have run 10+ Half Marathons in Chevron Houston Marathon or Full Marathons in in Chevron Houston Marathon
3. Charity program/ Hero Entries: Interested participants can get a guaranteed spot through a charity/ fund raising option. While requirements vary from charity to charity, there are minimum requirements for each (over & above the registration fees). Only charities which are part of the official Marathon Charity program have access to guaranteed access. For Hero entries, participants need to pay a minimum of $ 350 (over & above the registration fees) for a guaranteed slot
4. International Tour entries and sponsored entries also allowed

Important Points
- Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable (unless applied for “refundable” option during time of registration by paying extra fees). Charity/ tour/ sponsor entries are not eligible for refunds
- Distance Transfer: Shift to another race distance is allowed by paying a fees
- Military discounts are available for active & retired US military personnel
- Elite athletes: Participation in the elite division is by invitation only.
- Packet pick up: At the expo, the participants need to present their race confirmation (soft or hard copy) along with a government issued photo ID to receive their participant packet and participant bag. An authorised person can be authorized to pick up participant packet on behalf of the runner
- Corrals/ waves: Runners would be released in waves.
- Pacers are available who will pace groups of runners. Pacers are available only for Full Marathon
- Aid Station: Water & Gatorade is available every 1.5miles starting at 2mile marker. Gatorade gels are also available at limited aid stations. Aid stations also have port-a-loos and medical aid
- Tracking: A free mobile app is available to aid both runners & spectators.
- Time limit applicable on the course for after which the course is thrown open to normal traffic
