The Vancouver Sun Run is an annual race held in Vancouver Canada since 1985. It is one of Canada’s largest 10k road races and is the third largest timed 10k in North America.

It was founded by former Canadian Olympians Dr. Doug and Diane Clement along with Dr. Jack Taunton with the primary aim of promoting the benefits of running, to improve health and fitness, as well as support elite amateur athletics.

The first run attracted 3,200 participants.

Date & Timings: April 19 (12pm-7pm) & April 20 (10am-5pm)

* Fees for Team Division 10K is same as Individual

** Processing fees and taxes will be added upon check-out. Fees is time sensitive and will go up closer to race date

*** Waiver/ Supervision might be required for runners below 18 years of age

The Vancouver Sun Run route for the 10K is a POINT to POINT course while that for the Mini 2.5K run it is an OUT & BACK course with the below mentioned Start and Finish points:

In addition to above,

  1. Bonus: there would be bonuses for Canadian athletes as follows:
    M/F Sub – 29:00/33:00 – $ 500
    M/F Sub – 28:30/32:30 – $1,000
    M/F Sub – 28:00/32:00 – $2,000
  2. Open Division (non elite) and Age group Awards are given three deep to males and females in: Overall, Masters, Wheelchairs, 16-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95 plus. No award category for 15 and under.

Points to Note for Prize Purse

  • All prizes are in Canadian dollars
  • Athletes may receive multiple awards.
  • Prize winners must be present at the awards ceremony and be available for media interviews.
  • Proof of age or citizenship may be required.
  • Time bonuses are for the top Canadian (winner – singular) only and are not cumulative.
  • All awards are based on gun times (not chip times).
  • Awards are equal for Male and Female participants

Important Points

  • Registrations are non-refundable and non-transferrable
  • Bib Collection: Race package pickup at the Sun Run Fair are for Individuals and Shaw Mini Sun Runners ONLY. Team Race Packages will be delivered directly to Team Captains. If participant is unable to pick-up the package, they can assign someone to pick it up for them. Please give the proxy the bib number to expedite the pick-up process – nothing else is needed. For out-of-town participants (must be from outside Lower Mainland) picking up on race morning, please email organizers at info@vancouversunrun.com
  • Elite entries: Participants can apply for elite status by meeting specified qualifying standard. Please read more details about elite athletes here
  • Waves/ Corrals: All participants must provide an estimated finish time on their entry forms. Participants’ would be released in waves basis the estimated finish time
