The Lisbon Marathon – also known as EDP Maratona de Lisboa – is an annual marathon held in Lisbon, Portugal. First organized in 1986, the Lisbon Marathon is usually held in October every year
Maratona Clube de Portugal (MCP), is the official race organiser for the EDP Lisbon Marathon. The event appears on the World Athletics race calendar and is run at an international / elite label level (World Athletics / WA Elite / Label race status for the event/weekend).
The Lisbon Marathon starts in the beachside city of Cascais and finishes at the Praça do Comércio in central Lisbon. Both the marathon and half marathon (which starts on the Vasco da Gama Bridge) are IAAF Gold Standard. The marathon course is flat, fast and incredibly scenic.
Along with full marathon, the event has a half marathon and an 8km run

Information about the prizes money for the Lisbon Marathon 2026 is detailed below. All Prizes are equal for men and women

Important Points
- Registration Fees: Race fees is not refundable, nor transferable from year to year. Once participant is signed up, fees is used for event expenses and cannot be returned.
- Parental consent: Organizers requires parental consent before any Participant below the age of 18 years old is permitted to participate in the Event
- Race Number Pick up: If participant can’t make it to number pick-up, they can send someone to pick it up . A photocopy of some form of I.D. (valid forms of ID include, driver’s license, passport, etc.), for the absent runner along with a note granting permission for the race number and packet to be picked up must be presented in order to have someone else pick up participant number.
- Start Line: Only buses provided by the organization will allow you access to the START line for Half Marathon & EDP 8K. These buses are free of charge and will get the athletes to the Start Line between 6:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. They will depart from the Avenida D. João II, between the “Gare do Oriente” train station and the Shopping Center “VASCO DA GAMA”
- Aid stations will be placed throughout the course
- Baggage check in available only for Marathon
- Time limits: There is an upper limit applicable for the Marathon (6 hours) and Half Marathon/ 8K (3 hours) beyond which the course would be shut down
