Belfast, Northern Ireland May 5, 2024 Registration Closed

The Belfast City Marathon, held annually over the May Bank Holiday weekend, takes place in the city of Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is known as the largest mass sport participatory event in Northern Ireland, attracting approximately 15,000-18,000 participants across various events. These events include the marathon itself, a wheelchair race, a team relay, and an 8-mile walk. Additionally, the organizers host the largest Half Marathon event in Northern Ireland, held in September.

The Belfast City Marathon holds the prestigious AIMS certification as a recognized race. However, in 2019, the organizers issued an apology when it was discovered that the marathon course was 0.3 miles longer than the standard marathon distance. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of the race was canceled. Registrants were given the choice of participating virtually or transferring their entry to 2021, 2022, or 2023. To adapt to the circumstances, the 2021 event was rescheduled from May to October 2021, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.
