The Budapest Marathon is an annual racing event held in the city of Budapest, Hungary. The Budapest Marathon is usually held in early October or late September.
While the current version of the marathon has been held since 1984, there was an annual marathon that was organized in Budapest since 1961.
Though the course of the marathon changes every year, the main routes usually remain same year-to-year. Due to the large number of participants, a zoned start is implemented and runners are released in waves. The marathon not only passes through two UNESCO World Heritage sites, it also crosses the Danube several times.
The event includes a Marathon, Marathon Relay (2 person & 4 person), 30K, 10K and 5K

Marathon:
- Top 3 male and female runners.
- Material prizes to Top 3 wheelchair and handbike male and female competitors
- The age categories also serve as categories for the Hungarian amateur championship among participants.
Relay Marathon (Team of 2)
- Top 3 teams in women, men, and mixed teams will be evaluated and awarded separately.
Relay Marathon (Team of 4)
- Top 3 team in women and men teams are evaluated separately, while mixed teams are evaluated among the men’s teams.
30K & 10K
- Top 3 male and female runners would be awarded
- Top 3 male and female wheelchair and handbike participants would be awarded.

Important Points
- Registration cancellation: If a runner is unable to attend an event, they have the option to cancel their registration. In this case, the paid entry fee will not be forfeited. Only a small processing fees would be charged and the remaining fees can be used until the end of the year following the cancellation (for registering in other BSI events
- Registration transfer: it is not allowed to transfer or sell entry tickets to other participants
- Change of distance: If runner has already signed up for an event but would like to change the distance to a shorter or longer one, they need to withdraw from the original distance and then use the partial refunded fees to sign up for the new distance. This can be done only till the registration for that distance has not been closed due to the limitation of the number of participants.
- Aid stations will be placed throughout the course. Each aid station will have water. Additionally, Absolute Life isotonic drink, i:am salt tablets, bananas, glucose tablets, lemons, magnesium, calcium, Pepsi will be available at limited aid stations.
- Cloakroom (Baggage check in) available. Bicycle stand/ storage also provided
- Pacers are available.
- Time limits: There are time limits applicable (see below).
