The Inverness Half Marathon is an annual marathon race held in Inverness, Scotland. Held in springtime, the race event is held along the scenic River Ness. The event includes a half marathon and a 5K fun run. Attracting nearly 4000 participants it is one of the most beautiful courses which take you through the city’s icons.

Expo Details The expo venue for 2024 event was at Inverness Sports Centre, Bught Park, Inverness IV3 5SS (for 5K). Race packs were sent in late February/ March to participants of Half Marathon

Important Points

1. Reduced entry fees: All schools, youth clubs and disability groups are eligible to enter teams into the 5K and receive reduced entry fees.

2. Registration

  • For Half Marathon: Early Bird entry is usually open till end October while regular entry is open till end February (subject to availability). No race weekend entries are allowed.
  • 5K: Early Bird entry is open till end October while regular entry is open till first week March (subject to availability). Limited entries are available over race weekend subject to race capacity.

3. Transferability of Registration:

  • Registration is transferable (to another person) but the transfer must be completed 6 weeks prior to the event. Refund (minus transfer fee) would be issued once the new runner has claimed the transfer and paid the full entry fee online. Please check terms & conditions for more information.
  • Transfer to another race distance is not possible. Registration fees would need to be paid again and you need to register online until end February (subject to availability of race slots).

4. Deferment of Registration: The organizers do not allow deferment of registration to another year.

5. Refunds: Refunds are allowed within 14 days of registration (and not after that). Administration fees of £5 would be charged on all refunds.

6. Withdrawals: Notice of withdrawal must be communicated by emailing info@invernesshalfmarathon.co.uk

7. Headphones: Wearing headphones or earphones is NOT permitted in any of the races under Scottish and UK Athletics rules. However headphones or earphones that use bone conductor technology are allowed.

7. Aid stations: There are 4 water stations along the marathon course and water would also be available at the finish line.

9. Toilets: Portable toilets are available at the start and along the route. There are also available at the Inverness Sports centre.

10. Cut off limits: The Marathon starts at 12.30pm and the race cut-off time is 3 hrs 30 min (till 4pm). Roads would start to re-open from 3.00pm.

11. Buggies: Buggies are not allowed in the half marathon but are welcome in the 5K.
