Inaugurated in 2006, the Fort Lauderdale A1A marathon is held in this South Florida city annually. The marathon boasts of a route/course which is flat and fast enabling a lot of PBS for runners and aiding in getting that Boston Qualifier in your hands.
The Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon course route is on the main coastal road giving runners’ an uninterrupted and breathtaking view of the ocean.
The event includes lots of races to cater to everyone – a marathon, half marathon, a 6K race, a 5K race, and even a kids’ race (1.2miles). All races are entirely run on paved streets. Except for the 5K run, all other events happen on Sunday. The 5K run happens on a Saturday prior to that.

Prize Money
For the Publix Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon, the following awards are handed out for marathon & Half Marathon categories:
- Overall top 3 men & women (based on gun time)
- Top 3 men & women in each Age Group Category (based on chip/net time)
- Awards for the Top 3 for both Male & Female
1) Age Groups categories are for each 5-year increment: 19 & Under; 20-24; 25-29; 30-34, etc. all the way up to 70-74, then 75 and older.
2) All prizes are equal for men’s and women’s categories

- Water, energy drinks, and other refreshments would be available on the route/course. Water and refreshments would be available to all runners post-race finish.
- Medical and washroom facilities would also be available on the route/course as well as at the start point and finish line of the race.

- Pacers: Pace teams would be available
- Time limits are applicable for all the races after which the course would be open for regular vehicular traffic. The finish area would be operational till 1:30 pm.
